BRAYAN VALENCIA was born in Bogota, Colombia. He began his training at 16 in Arte Danzario at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. In 2015, he won a full scholarship to join the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet in New York City where trained for three years with teachers such as Gelsey Kirkland, Nikolay Levitsky, Vera Solovyeva, Ludmila Polonskaya, and Michael Chernov. In the USA, he had the opportunity to dance on scholarships at Joffrey Ballet School, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, and Gelsey Kirkland ballet summer programs and had worked with choreographers such as Ramon Thielen. In 2017, he joined the Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company in NYC, under the artistic direction of Enrique Cruz De Jesus, where he gained experience in modern dance. In 2018, he joined the Hudson Valley Youth Ballet under the artistic direction of Aaron Thao, performing the principal role as Prince in the Cinderella production. He danced as company member with the Ballet Frontier of Texas (2018–2021), under the artistic direction of Chung-Lin Tseng, and had the opportunity to dance in productions like the Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, A midsummer night's dream, etc. Between 2021 and 2022 he danced with the Ballet Concerto in Texas, under the artistic direction of Margot Dean and with the Compania Colombia de danza in Bogota, Colombia.
In spring of 2022, he joined Ballet Metropolitano de Medellin, where he danced as a company member for a full season, and performed in pieces like Botero, Gabo and some classical works. In winter 2023 he joined the Klaipėda State Music Theatre Ballet Company where he currently appears in most of the theatre‘s dance performances as member of the corps, as well as in some solo parts, including Liucė‘s ex-husband (In the Shadow of the Altars, chor. by Aurelijus Liškauskas) and duet (Hiccup, chor. Robert Bondara). In 2023, he participated in the KSMT‘s choreographic workshop “Attention! Ballet”, where he, together with his fellow dancer Laura Carolina Figueroa Orduz, choreographed Por quinta vez shown in the programme Klaipėda: yesterday, today, tomorrow.
