Ignas Armalis (b. 1990 in Gargždai, Lithuania) studied at the Ballet Department of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts under Danielius Kiršys, graduating in 2011. He joined the ballet company of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (LNOBT) the same year.
In 2010, he participated in the Nordic-Baltic Ballet Competition Stora Daldansen in Falun (Sweden), where he won 3rd and 4th prizes and subsequently won 1st prize in the international ballet competition in Grasse (France). Since 2010, he has been a member of the Baltic Ballet Theatre and appeared at the Gala Festival in Tartu (Estonia).
In 2019, he completed his bachelor’s degree in classical dance and dance pedagogy at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. He also holds an international CIDESCO diploma and is a qualified masseur.
Among the roles he has created as a soloist with the ballet company of the LNOBT are: Prince, Arabian dancer, Flower dance soloist (Tchaikovskys’ The Nutcracker), Conrad (Adam’s Le Corsaire), the Mandarin (Bartók’s The Miraculous Mandarin), Cipollino (Karen Khachaturian’s ballet for children Cipollino), Prince (Bogdan Pawłowski’s ballet for children Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), Rothbart, pas de trois (Tchaikovskys’ Swan Lake), Hilarion, pas de deux (Adam’s Giselle), Nathanael’s friend (Délibes’ Coppélia), Friend (Minkus’ Don Quixote), the Indian dance soloist (Minkus’ La Bayadère), Arlequin (Drigo’s Les millions d’Arlequin), the Moon (Antanas Jasenka’s In the Beginning There Was Nothing). With the Baltic Ballet Theater he appeared as Straublys in Vladas Jakubėnas’ ballet Vaiva’s Sash and in various roles in Another World after the music of Depeche Mode and Sunstroke after the music of The Beatles. Together with the LNOBT he has toured Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, China, and Germany.
