Laura Annika Lehtonen started her professional dance training in 2010 at the Tampere Conservatoire. Later on, she studied at the Ballet School of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet (2015-2018). There she has performed solo roles in the classical ballets La Sylphide (2018) and Coppélia (2017), as well as in the contemporary dance performances Lake of the Little Swans (2018) and A Piece for Small Stage (2017). For her final examinations, she has performed three choreographies by Marius Petipa: Princess Aspicia’s variations from Cesare Pugni’s ballet The Pharaoh’s Daughter, the role of Dulcinea in Don Quixote’s Dream Scene from Minkus’s ballet Don Quixote, and Princess Aurora in the wedding pas de deux from Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Sleeping Beauty. During her studies, she has also performed with the Finnish National Ballet in the productions of The Snow Queen, The Nutcracker, Giselle, and Don Quixote. She has also spent training periods at the National Ballet School of Canada and the Salzburg Academy for Ballet and Contemporary Dance.
Since 2018, she has been a soloist with the Kaunas State Music Theatre in Lithuania. Among her most prominent roles with this company are Spring, Flower and Snow Queen in the ballet for children The Snow Queen (chor. Aleksandras Jankauskas), Dancer in Oleksandr Rodin’s ballet for children Aladdin (chor. and dir. Serhii Kon), and Emilia in Anatolijus Šenderovas’s ballet Desdemona (chor. Anželika Cholina).
Simultaneously, she has also completed her Bachelor’s studies in sociology and communication at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, in 2023.
