Born in Sevastopol, Crimea (Ukraine), Olesia Shaytanova graduated with honours from the Kyiv State Choreographic College in 2013. That same year, she became a soloist at the National Opera of Ukraine. Since 2016, she has been a principal soloist of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre ballet company. Her awards include first prize at the 6th International Rudolf Nureyev Ballet Competition in Budapest (2013), first prize at the 4th International Istanbul Ballet Competition (2014), and first prize at the 5th International Beijing Ballet School Competition (dance performance category; 2014). She has toured with various ballet companies in Greece, Italy, Japan, Germany, and South Korea.
Among the soloist roles at the LNOBT are Kitri in Minkus’s Don Quixote, Odette-Odile in Tchaikovsky’s The Swan Lake, Princess Florine and Princess Aurora in Tchaikovsky’s The Sleeping Beauty, Clara in Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, Giselle in Adam’s Giselle, Juliet in Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Medora in Adam’s Le Corsaire, Gamzatti and Nikiya in Minkus’s La Bayadère, Cinderella in Prokofiev’s Cinderella, Snow White in Bogdan Pawłowski’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Leni and the Court Cleaner in Mindaugas Urbaitis’ The Trial, the Girl in Bartók’s The Miraculous Mandarin, the soloist in Krzysztof Pastor’s Bolero and Wayne McGregor’s Infra, Paquita in Marius Petipa’s Paquita, Pierrette in Drigo’s Les millions d'Arlequin, and the Sun in Antanas Jasenka’s ballet In the Beginning There Was Nothing. She also performed the role of Liza in Anželika Cholina’s dance performance The Queen of Spades.
She was awarded Jurgis Žalkauskas Prize (2018) and named Ballet Soloist of the Year at the 2022 LNOBT Awards.
